current teaching I am an adjunct professor of both music (since 2013) and philosophy (since 2023). I teach a wide range of music courses: composition, counterpoint, music theory and analysis, orchestration, sight-singing and dictation, keyboard harmony, music history, and music appreciation. In philosophy departments, I teach courses in aesthetics, critical theory, logic and critical reasoning, and the history of philosophy.
I
am currently teaching at both Fordham University and Stony Brook University. I have also taught at the Aaron Copland School of Music (Queens College), Baruch College, Lehman College, Manhattan College, and Montclair State University.
I also teach privately. If you are interested in lessons, please email me: gregory.joseph.menillo@gmail.com.
Additionally, I occassionally run reading groups on key works in aesthetics, critical theory, and modern philosophy. Past groups have focused on Adorno’s Aesthetic Theory, Hegel’s Encyclopedia: Logic, Kant’s Critique of Pure Reason, and Lukács’ History and Class Consciousness. Information about upcoming groups will be posted below. Requests are welcome.
